Anthony J. Clesi, Jr.
has been a Partner with Evans & Clesi since August 1996. Prior to
joining the firm, Tony was a trial attorney practicing insurance
defense at several local law firms, as well as in Baton Rouge. Tony
has practiced in both state and federal court, and is admitted to
practice before the United States Supreme Court. His primary practice
areas include premises liability, automobile liability defense,
medical malpractice litigation and insurance defense.
Tony was born in New Orleans and
earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Tulane University in 1952 and a
Law Degree in 1954. He has been a member of the Baton Rouge Bar
Association, where he was a member of the Board of Directors,
1976-1980; Treasurer, 1979-1980; Secretary, 1980-81; and President,
1982-1983. He is a member of the New Orleans Bar Association and the
Louisiana State Bar Association, where he served as a member of the
House of Delegates, 1982-1984. Tony is also a member of the American
Arbitration Association, International Association of Defense Counsel,
Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel (Member, Board of Directors,
1980-82), and Defense Research Institute. He is also a former Special
Assistant Attorney General for the State of Louisiana.
Tony is a Fellow of the Louisiana
Bar Foundation; a member of the Orleans Parish Republican Executive
Committee; Team 100, Republican Party; and was an Alternate Delegate
to the Republican National Convention 2000 & 2004. He is on the Board of
Directors of Project Lazarus; Former Chair, Forum for Equality; and a member
of the Parish Council, St. Patrick’s Church. He is also an alumnus of
Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity and Delta Tau Delta Social Fraternity,
for which he was a Vice-President of the Southern Division from
1969-1971.
While living in Baton Rouge, Tony
was Chairman of the Ethics Nomination Committee, City of Baton
Rouge/Parish of East Baton Rouge, 1982-1983; Member, Board of
Directors, Baton Rouge Area Foundation, 1982-1983; President, Baton
Rouge Little Theatre, Inc., 1969-70; and Member, Board of Directors,
Audubon Girl Scout Council, Baton Rouge, 1962-1965. In 1998, he was
inducted into the Baton Rouge Little Theater Hall of Fame. |
